Vodafone Increases Pay Monthly Contract Tariffs
In a shock move we have been advised that Vodafone are to increase their pay monthly line rental charges on a selection of their contract tariffs, this at first may sound off-putting however the network has assured us that this also takes into consideration new volumes of inclusive minutes, text and data.
The prices of the new price plans have increased on tariffs of between £10 and £24 per month an extra 50p, so for example their £10 SIM Only plan has become £10.50 per month, for all pay monthly deals above £25 per month there is now an extra £1 charge, (e.g. £30 mobile phone Contract will become £31.00 per month).
After looking through the new plans it seems that some of them have now been given some extra minutes, text and data whilst others have not, as an example of one tariff that has not changed the Vodafone 100 + 500 + 250MB still offers the same inclusive package but now costs £1 extra per month.
The new £41 tariffs now add an extra 250MB of internet access every month so this has been upped from 500MB to 750MB, these new tariffs came into play today and we expect that independent retailers connecting handsets to the Vodafone network will also have to follow suit very soon.
It looks as though this has been prompted with the increased usage of 3G services with so many new smart phones now being used, chewing up data is easier than ever with applications always running and updating in the back ground whilst many consumers download substantial mobile content across all operating systems.
UPDATE 03/06/11: We’ve just learned that some tariffs are actually going to be increased by £2!
This effects all pay monthly plans above £50, ie. A £55 plan is now £57.00
