iPhone Nano rumour surface once more – report claims handset to arrive alongside iPhone 5
Rumours of a smaller more compact version of the iPhone has been circulating since 2007. Now, according to China Times, sources from the supply chain of Apple suggest that the iPhone Nano is coming with the production of the device on the works.
Currently, the iPhone 4S has dominated the high-end smartphone market with the Samsung Galaxy S2 on its trail. However, Samsung is also a force to be reckoned with in the mid-range and entry-level markets. Apple’s iPhone 3G S and iPhone 4 are the company’s lower-priced handsets, but is still more expensive compared to other phones of its class. If Apple plans to penetrate emerging markets, an entry-level iPhone Nano sporting low-end hardware definitely fits the bill.
If Apple does plan to put the iPhone Nano into production, it’s possible this entry-level iPhone would be launched alongside the iPhone 5. Apple’s next generation iPhone was rumoured to be officially launched in June, which was the month of the year Apple released new iPhones since 2007 with the exception of the iPhone 4S. However, due to LTE chip shortages. Apple is said to launch the iPhone 5 in October instead.
