Pre-ordered Samsung Galaxy S2s Now Reach 3 Million

On Samsung’s official Flickr page, the Korean smartphone giant announced that pre-orders of the highly coveted Galaxy S2 have reached a whopping 3 million when the month of April came to an end. This means you can add a couple more thousands since we have entered the second week of May.

With this much success in the first few weeks upon release, the S2 is on its way in becoming the biggest-selling smartphone of 2011. This is more than what the Korean smartphone manufacturer could have expected compared to the profits earned by the flagship’s predecessor the Galaxy S.

Regarded by many as the top smartphone of its class this 2011, there are various reasons why the smartphone’s popularity is ever growing. The handset comes with a highly efficient Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor Mali-400MP GPU Orion chipset, which is responsible for the smartphone unequalled performance. It also comes with 1 GB of RAM that adds more to the phone’s performance. To top it all off, the smartphone comes pre-installed with the latest version of the Android OS the 2.3 Gingerbread. Other dual-core Android smartphones come pre-installed with the Froyo 2.2 version, which disappointed many.

Aside from software and processing power, the handset comes with a Super AMOLED 4.3 inch display that delivers 480 x 800 pixels of resolution. It also comes with an 8 MP camera that is capable of HD video recording. Sadly, the UK version does not come with the highly anticipated NFC chip. However, there are rumors flying around that the UK version can be NFC-enabled at any time by Samsung.

With this much success, it is interesting to see how the recently unveiled HTC Sensation and the highly anticipated iPhone 5 will do when they do make in shops. The Samsung Galaxy S2 has definitely set the bar high.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Upgrades Processor to a 1.2 GHz Dual-Core

Samsung has been responsible for creating unique handsets such as the Google Nexus S with its NFC capabilities and it has also been behind one of the most popular Android smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy S. With the announcement of the Galaxy S2 and its dual-core processor, Samsung enthusiasts must have been jumping up and down in excitement. With the latest news from Samsung’s Estonian Facebook page, the jumping up and down will soon turn to jaw-dropping awe.

On the Estonian Samsung Facebook page, it has been confirmed that the previous 1 GHz dual-core processor of the S2 has been upgraded to a beefier 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. With this extremely powerful processor, the S2 is sure to become the most powerful Android smartphone to hit the smartphone arena.

Other confirmed specifications of the smartphone are impressive as well. It will come with a 4.3 touch screen display protected with Gorilla Glass technology, a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and Swype text input technology. It will be capable of download speed of up to 21 mbps and upload speeds of up to 5.76 mbps, which is by far the fastest handset on the internet. Of course, it will come with the latest operating system Android has to offer. It will be powered by the Android OS version 2.3 (Gingerbread). This will allow you to enjoy everything Google has to offer, smoother multi-tasking, more from the Android Market, web fidelity, energy efficiency, and so much more.

When will this super Android smartphone be released in the UK? The Estonian Samsung Facebook page hinted that we should expect the smartphone within the month of April. Is it a coincidence that the Samsung Galaxy S2 will coincide with the release of the powerful HTC Sensation? Let’s just wait and see. This will truly be a clash of the titans.
