Jelly Bean rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S Advance in January

Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) has rolled out to a number of Samsung’s smartphones such as the Galaxy S3. If you own one of its Android handsets, you must be wondering when the update will be rolling out to your handset. According to Samsung, the update will be rolling out to the Galaxy S Advance in January.

The Korean tech giant offers a host of Android handsets. Despite this, the Korean firm still manages to roll out updates to these smartphones before most manufacturers. Why other Android manufacturers fail to roll out updates at the same time as others is beyond us. So we commend Samsung for pushing out updates before everyone else.

The Samsung Galaxy S Advance is a smartphone somewhere in between the original Galaxy S and the Galaxy S2. The mid-range smartphone sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1GHz dual-core processor, and 768MB of RAM. It ships running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). By January, users will get to enjoy a more updated version of Android. The latest version of Android runs on devices such as the Google Nexus 4. It runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

The news comes to us via Samsung’s German Facebook page. According to the post, Jelly Bean will be rolling out to the Galaxy S Advance in January. It will be available via Samsung Kies software or OTA (over-the-air) update. Although it doesn’t say when exactly in January the update will be rolling out to the handset in Germany, this suggests that Jelly Bean will rolling out to the handset in the UK soon.

Do you own a Samsung Galaxy S Advance? Can’t wait to get Jelly Bean running on your smartphone? We’ll keep you posted once Samsung officially announces the update’s rollout.

It’s official – Samsung Galaxy S Advance coming in February

It’s official. The Samsung Galaxy S Advance will be coming to Europe in February. Sadly, we haven’t heard of the official UK release date, but we’re sure Samsung will be announcing its arrival in the UK soon.

Until Samsung gives word on the handset’s UK release date, here are the phone’s official specs. The Advance sports a 4 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Like the original Galaxy S, it comes with a 5 megapixel camera. It also comes with a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. Sadly, the phone will ship running Gingerbread instead of Ice Cream Sandwich on the Galaxy Nexus.

Unlike the original Galaxy S, the Galaxy S Advance packs a 1 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 768 MB of RAM under the hood. It can support a 32 GB microSD card. It will be available in an 8 GB and 16 GB version.

The Galaxy S Advance look like the Galaxy S2’s little brother. It’s 123.2 mm in height, 63 mm in length, and 9.69 mm slim, compared to the 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm Galaxy S2. However, it sports a curved design like the Galaxy Nexus.

Interested in the Samsung Galaxy S Advance? We’ll keep you posted once we know more.
