LG promises all devices released this 2012 will be updated to Android 5.0 (Jelly Bean)

TechRadar reports, Shaun Musgrave, UK Product Manager at LG, promises that all LG devices released this 2012 to Android 5.0 (Jelly Bean), which is a part of LG’s commitment in “offering the best smartphone experience”.

Sadly, this remains to be seen since the tech website also says that Jelly Bean will only be available to smartphones if “the phone can support it”.

LG handsets unveiled this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that are likely to receive the update include the successor of the Optimus 2X the Optimus 4X HD, the rival of the Samsung Galaxy Note the Optimus Vu, the stylish L7, and the successor of the Optimus 3D the Optimus 3D Max. These smartphones pack hardware that will likely support Jelly Bean.

Another new release is the LG L5, which runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). However, since the handset packs an 800 MHz processor, it is less likely to be a candidate for the Jelly Bean update. Another new LG handset that will likely be left out is the LG L3, which still runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

We’re not exactly sure when Google plans to roll out Jelly Bean, but DigiTimes reports that the latest iteration of Android would rollout sometime in Q2 2012. Some suggest that the update would roll out at around the same time Ice Cream Sandwich rolled out in 2011, which is late this year.
