Samsung sells 10 million units of the Galaxy Note around the world

At the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, the Korean tech giant announced the success of the 5.3-inch Galaxy Note. The company announced that it has sold 10 million units of the Note around the world since the device’s launch.

The surprising success of the Note has inspired the Korean firm to create more versions of the popular ‘phablet’. It has recently unveiled the 10.1-inch version of the device and is expected to launch the Galaxy Note 2 in IFA, which will be kicking off on the 29th of August in Berlin, Germany.

Leaked images of the Note 2 sent to GSMArena shows the device looking like a blown up version of the Galaxy S3. It is rumoured to sport a 5.5-inch display and a 1.6GHz quad-core processor.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 tipped to be unveiled on the 29th of August

Journalists have received invites to a ‘Mobile Unpacked’ event that will be kicking off on the 29th of August in Germany. Samsung is said to unveil the Galaxy Note’s successor at the event.

There are various clues that point out to the Galaxy Note 2’s unveiling in Germany. First of all, the invite’s graphics shows a magic wand that also looks like a stylus. Furthermore, the event will be kicking off in Berlin a few days before IFA. The 2011 IFA trade show was where the original Galaxy Note was unveiled.

If the Note 2 will be given its own event, it seems Samsung is doing the same with the Note’s successor like it did with the Galaxy S3. The S3 was thought to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress, but was unveiled in its own event a few months after in London.

Do you think Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy Note 2 in its own event in Germany on the 29th of August? Let us know through a comment.

Samsung’s PR team confirmed with Know Your Mobile that “the Ice Cream Sandwich update for Galaxy Note has been released and will be available when approved across the networks”.

Let’s just hope we don’t experience the same fiasco with the Galaxy S2 when the ICS rolled out first to handsets locked to a network before SIM-free versions of the device. Regardless, we’re happy to report that ICS for the Galaxy Note has now landed.
