Nokia Windows Phone 7 Handsets Rumored To Be Unveiled On October 26

Nokia has just recently announced its new MeeGo-powered handset the N9, which we have been waiting for quite a long time now. On the 26th of October, expect a bigger announcement from the Finnish phone giant. We might just see new Nokia Windows-powered smartphones.

The Finnish phone manufacturer has announced that its Nokia World expo will be taking place in London from the 26th to the 27th of October. It has been rumored that Nokia will be taking this opportunity to unveil their new smartphones powered by the Windows Phone 7 platform.

The event’s announcement followed a statement by Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop, saying that he has the utmost confidence in delivering their new handsets towards the end of 2011. We’re hoping to get a glimpse of pre-released Nokia WP7 smartphones, regardless whether or not they make it towards the end of this year or early in 2012.

On the Mobile World Congress last February, Nokia featured images of a C7-like smartphone powered by the Windows Phone 7 platform. The CEO even admitted to carrying a Nokia device sporting Nokia hardware running the Microsoft OS wherever he goes.

Despite all the hype, we are still unsure if we will be seeing flagship handsets the likes of the iPhone 4 and the Google Nexus S. This being said, we might not even see a dual-core powered Nokia Windows Phone anytime soon. It is possible that Nokia will target mid-range markets.

Although we expect to see more of the MeeGo-powered Nokia N9 at the up and coming Nokia world expo, we highly doubt that we will see succeeding MeeGo handsets in the future. We know for sure that the Finnish phone giant will be focusing the majority of its resources in marketing its Windows Phone handsets. Nonetheless, October is expected to be a big month for Nokia.

Will Nokia Windows Phone 7 Handsets Be Announced in Nokia’s Event in Greece?

The billion dollar partnership between Nokia and Microsoft made waves across the mobile community with good reason. It is one of the biggest deals related to mobile phone technology. However, we are yet to hear official news about the said partnership. With an event scheduled on the 17th of May, 2011 in Athens, Greece, we might get a sneak peak of the highly anticipated Nokia Windows Phone 7 handsets.

We have heard a number of rumors that show the existence of these Nokia WP7 smartphones. The W7 is said to resemble the C7 in terms of overall looks and touch screen features. It is said that we are most likely to see this Nokia WP7 handset sometime this year. Hopefully, we can get a glimpse of the Windows smartphone in the said event in Greece.

Despite wishful thinking, these events by Nokia have a tendency to be uneventful. This has been the case in past “Save The Date” invites by the Finnish smartphone manufacturer. However, with the recent decline of market share performance in Western Europe, it is highly possible that Nokia is planning something big to counter market share snatches by both the iOS and Android.

IDC has made predictions that Nokia will make a comeback and snatch 2nd place. With the help of Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Platform, Apple’s iOS smartphone such as the iPhone 4 will drop to 3rd place. Google’s Android, with smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S2, will dominate the smartphone market.

We are sure hoping that the Nokia Greek event will turn out to be eventful rather than the usual uneventful. Hopefully, we get to see the official announcement of Windows Phone 7 handsets by the Finnish smartphone manufacturer. It is most likely that Nokia will make their much awaited transition, which marks the start to recapture lost market shares.

Rumors Suggest Various Nokia WP7 and WP8 Handsets to Launch Throughout 2012

Although negotiations between Nokia and Microsoft are still on the works, a known Nokia infiltrator and expert, Eldar Murtazin, claims that he got his hands on a few Nokia Windows Phone 7 prototypes. With this news, we are dying to know what future handsets the Finnish phone manufacturer has in store for us.

Concept Nokia Windows Phones

On his Russian website, the first handset will be the W7. This smartphone will run on the Windows Phone 7 platform and will resemble the recently announced X7. It will have similar hardware specifications to the X7, which is a smartphone specifically designed for entertainment. The W7 is rumored to come with an 8 MP camera, autofocus, and flash. It is currently being used as a tool for testing and development. It is most likely that we will see more of this smartphone in the near future.

On the internet, there have been several W8 images that have been supposedly leaked. However, these are only mockups or images that have been Photoshopped. According to Eldar, the W8 will have similar hardware specifications to the Nokia N8. If this is true, are we to expect a powerful 12 MP camera on the said smartphone? This is exciting news, but yet to be confirmed.

Murtazin added that the phones were powered by Qualcomm chipset processors, which were required by Microsoft for their Windows Phone 7 platform. If this is the case, are we to see Qualcomm’s 1.5 GHz dual-core processors integrated with the Adreno 220 GPU, or will a next generation processor from the said CPU manufacturer be featured on the up and coming handsets? We are still waiting for confirmation from Nokia.

According to Eldar, there will be a dozen new Windows handsets scheduled to be unveiled throughout 2012. Included in this roster of new Windows handsets will be a WP7 handset that comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and a cheaper handsets that still falls within Microsoft’s strict requirements.
