HTC One X battery issues fixed by unofficial patch

According to Engadget, HTC One X owners have reported to address battery issues by applying an unofficial patch.

On an XDA-Developers thread, a user known as mike1986 has discovered that the new HTC flagship’s Tegra 3 chip mismanages its power reserves. To address the problem, the user rolled out an unofficial patch.

The bug us caused by HTC placing the NvCPLSvc.apk app in the /system/bin folder by mistake. The correct location of the app should be in the system/app folder. According to users who have installed the patch by mike1986, the fix has improved battery life by 10 to 20%.

So what’s the drawback? To install the unofficial patch, you would have to root your One X. This is only recommended for the more experienced user since rooting your phone could result in an expensive brick.

You might be asking yourself, will the Taiwanese phone giant release an official fix to the One X’s battery issues? Unfortunately, we are yet to hear from HTC about the matter.

HTC has a lot riding on its new lineup consisting of the One X, One S, and One V. This means that the Taiwanese firm should address the problem soon.

Do you own a brand new HTC One X? Are you waiting for the official patch that will address the phone’s battery issues? Sit tight. We’ll keep you posted once we know more.
