Longing for a new smartphone from LG? According to a report, the Korean phone maker will be launching the Optimus G2, successor of the Optimus G, in the UK in Q3 2013.
The report comes from Pocket-lint. The site reports, “LG is planning to release an as yet unannounced Optimus G2 in the UK later this year, Pocket-lint has learnt.
“The phone, which will likely be designed to take on the Galaxy S4 from rival manufacturer Samsung, should be the first Optimus G range handset to head to the UK.”
The site adds, “The Optimus G2, which LG tells us should be coming in Q3 or Q4 this year, will be a much higher specified handset, aimed at attracting customers looking for a top of the line smartphone.
“Unfortunately we don’t have any specifics on internals yet, but will let you now the moment we do. The phone has previously been rumoured to come with a Snapdragon 800 processor inside and a fairly impressive set of benchmark results. Other tips claim it will also include a 1794 x 1080 pixel display.”
Of course, since LG is yet to confirm the report, take this with a pinch of salt.

According to a rumour, the Nexus 5, successor of the highly popular Nexus 4, will be based on LG’s superphone the Optimus G Pro.
Kabirnews reports that “there is a Nexus 5 on the planning board that will come with Key Lime Pie pre-installed.”
It adds that “LG may will be basing the Nexus 5 on the LG Optimus G Pro. Sources indicate that Key Lime Pie may be released sometime in late spring and would be an improved version which could include the option of multiple user profiles. This would have the Nexus 5 hitting the shelves with performance options that would allow the user to choose either longer battery time or better hardware performance. Rumor control also says that there is the possibility of better Twitter integration.”
Speaking about specs, the site says, “The LG Optimus G Pro features a five inch, 1080p display and may have a 2GH quad core processor. According to inside sources, Google’s Nexus 5 will feature a Snapdragon 800 processor, 18mp camera and super PLS screen along with a 3000mAh battery. The concept device has been said to run Android 4.5 making one believe that it is the supposed Android Key Lime Pie system. The back side of the device looks a great deal like a compact version of the Nexus 4 with the same interesting design pattern.”
Of course, since LG or Google is yet to confirm these reports, take it with a large dose of salt.

LG teases that it will be unveiling a new series. Although it doesn’t drop any clues when it plans to lift the lid on its new smartphones, Mobile World Congress is just around the corner. So we’re likely to see the devices by then.
The Korean firm’s Facebook page, LG posted a teaser image wrapped in a ribbon. Within the image is a tagline that reads, “New series will be unveiled.”
The picture credit reads, “See what surprise LG has in store for you this time, with an unexpected distinction.”
Despite the teaser, it doesn’t look like LG customers are happy. On the same page, one reader writes, “why don’t you try to sell more nexus 4?”
Another writes, “No one wants any surprise other than YOU to update the software of your other phones, like the Optimus 3D. NO WAY YOU GET YOUR MONEY FROM ME!”
Another writes, “Where are the updates? LG LIE’S GOOD.”
The last one writes, “LG is still forgetting the essential for any business. KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY!!!”
So what should we expect from LG at MWC 2013? It’s hard to say for sure. Unlike HTC’s M7, we’ve seen numerous leaks of the handset on the internet. However, there are no leaks concerning the Korean firm.
Mobile World Congress kicks off on the 24th of February. We’ll know by then what LG has in store for us.
