7-inch Kindle Fire HD has lock-screen ads – costs £159

Finally, the Amazon Kindle Fire will be landing in the UK. Unlike the iPad, it will only cost you a mere £159.

The original Kindle Fire has been around in the US for quite some time now. The updated version sports a 1.2GHz processor coupled with 1GB of RAM for extra power. It also sports a 7-inch HD display with a resolution of 1,280×800 pixels. It is available in a 16GB version, which costs £159. The 32GB version will set you back £199.

An 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD has also been launched by Amazon. Sadly, there’s no word if this iPad rival will be landing in the UK.

The Kindle Fire HD will have lock-screen ads. According to Amazon, “These special money-saving offers that customers will enjoy could include offers on Kindle accessories or on our digital catalogue of Kindle books, apps, games and MP3, plus many more.”

Amazon is now offering the tablet for pre-order. Expect to get your hands on the Kindle Fire HD on the 25th of October.
