Rumour claims iPhone 5 will be called iPhone 5.1 and sport 4G, micro dock connector, and the same 3.5 inch retina display
Rene Richie from iMore has an interesting report on the hotly anticipated iPhone 5. According to Richie’s sources, the successor of the iPhone 4S will be called the iPhone 5.1 upon launch. His sources also say the new iOS-powered smartphone will sport 4G and a new micro dock connector. Unfortunately, the source says that the new iPhone will sport the same 3.5 inch retina display and not the rumoured 4.6 inch retina display that was reported in the past. The phone is said to land in October.
Since the new iPad, successor of the iPad 2, sports 4G internet, we’d actually be surprised if the iPhone 5 didn’t come with the same feature. According to iMore, the micro dock will be one of the most significant changes on the new iPhone. This new micro dock is said to slimmer, which will allow Apple to come up with a new design and form factor. This would also allow Apple to free up more space and cram in more features and hardware. As for the same 3.5 inch retina display, although disappointing, this makes sense given the fact that developers will have to excruciatingly redesign their apps for the bigger screen.
