DigiTimes’ sources claims Apple is redesigning the new iPad to prevent overheating. The redesigned version is said to be released towards the end of the year alongside the iPhone 5.
DigiTimes reports, “’The sources said the new iPad’s battery is being revised, which will help prevent overheating issues and could possibly make the device slightly lighter and thinner than previously designed. However, no comments were offered as to why the lens is being enlarged.”
Newspaper Apple Daily’s sources also say Apple will be releasing an upgraded version of the new iPad this summer. The report says that Apple will be shifting its panel supply from Samsung to Sharp. The panels supplied by Sharp will sport IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) panel technology. This would mean that the revamped tablet would sport a thinner profile and a longer battery life.
Of course, take this information with large doses of salt.

Rumours of the iPad Mini have surfaced since the days of the original iPad to the iPad 2. Despite the new iPad currently in the market, rumours of a smaller iPad are still circulating in the internet. Now, reports from Bloomberg and Wall Street Journal claim that the smaller tablet will be launched towards the end of the year.
According to Bloomberg’s anonymous sources, the iPad Mini will sport a display measuring seven to eight inches. It will not, however, sport a retina display. Their sources also claim that it will arrive before the year ends.
According to WSJ, Apple’s supply chain is getting ready for the iPad Mini’s production. Their sources claim that the device will go into production in September. The report also says LG will be in charge of the device’s display.
If these reports are true, it seems Apple is planning to compete with the entry level 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire and Google’s newly announced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-powered Google Nexus 7.
