Recently, Google was rumoured to have redesigned its Google Play app for Android devices such as the HTC One or the Samsung Galaxy S4. Now, the search giant has launched the newly redesigned app.
On Android’s official blog, Michael Siliski, group product manager for Google Play posts, “Whether you’re in the mood to listen to Justin Timberlake’s new album, read Harlan Coben’s latest bestseller or discover a new game to play, you want the experience of finding and making your purchase to be quick and easy. Today we’ve started rolling out a redesigned Google Play store on Android phones and tablets that is simple, clean and — most importantly — helps you find great entertainment, fast.
“The new design focuses on bigger images that jump off the page. Similarly themed content is grouped together so you can hone in on a magazine to read or an app to try. As you move down the page, new recommendations continue to appear so there is always more to see and explore. We’ve also simplified purchasing so you can breeze through checkout and get to enjoying your movie rental or other content.
“The redesigned Google Play store app starts rolling out today for Android phones and tablets running Android 2.2 (Froyo) and above. People around the world should see it over the next few weeks. Get ready for a simpler Google Play.”

Wireless charging has arrived for the Google Nexus 4. Sadly, it is only available in the US and not in the UK.
The new wireless charger looks like a sphere cut in the middle at an angle. This gives the sphere a flat surface, allowing you to place the phone on the charger. All you need to do is plug the charger into the wall and place the phone on the sphere’s flat surface to charge. It takes around four hours to fully charge the Nexus 4.
The new wireless charger is a Q1 charger. This means that it can also charge other handsets that can be charged wirelessly such as the Nokia Lumia 920.
Currently, the technology is not yet full blown. In a few more years, there are plans to put wireless chargers in coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, and airport lounges, making it possible to charge your phone in any place at any time.
Google Play in the US is selling the wireless charger for the Nexus 4 for $60 (£39). We’ll keep you posted if and when it goes on sale in the UK.
Would you like to have the wireless charger for the Google Nexus 4? We’ll let you know once it goes on sale on Google Play.

The Google Nexus 4 has now gone live again on Google Play. However, if you were planning to get more than one device, it’s no longer possible. Google has put a limit on the amount of units one person can get. Furthermore, the device will be delivered to your doorstep in four to five weeks. Bummer!
The Nexus smartphone went back on sale on Google Play at 5pm today. Both the 8GB and 16GB versions will take four to five weeks to deliver.
The initial demand for the Nexus 4 overwhelmed Google. It was sold out from Google Play in less than thirty minutes after going live. One of the mistakes made by the search giant was not allowing Android fans to pre-order the device. Now, at least, Google has learned its lesson and has limited the sales of the device to one per person.
When Google Play initially ran out of stock of the Nexus 4, opportunistic people took to eBay and set the starting bidding price of the smartphone at outrageous prices. One was even trying to sell the phone for more than £1000. We’re sure, however, that this will no longer happen again since you are sure to get your hands on the device. All you have to do is wait for a month.
The Nexus 4 is also being offered by network operators such as O2. However, they’re offering the handset for more than what it’s worth.
We’re actually not surprised the Nexus 4 sold like hotcakes on Google Play. The 8GB version costs a mere £239, while the 16GB version will set you back £279. With these bargain prices you get a smartphone that sports a 4.7-inch HD display, a quad-core processor, and the latest version of Android (version 4.2 Jelly Bean). With these features and specs, you get a smartphone more powerful than the Samsung Galaxy S3 at almost half the price.
