Google Launches Location-based News on Both Android and iOS Smartphones
Six months back, Google News was optimized for mobile browsers. Now, Google launched location-based news for both the Android and iOS platforms. This means that you can get news that is relevant to your location regardless of whether you use Android smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Motorola Atrix as well as Apple smartphones such as the iPhone 4.
To activate the “News Near You” feature, you merely have to allow Google News to deliver news appropriate to your area when you visit their website through your smartphone’s browser. It will then display local news in the section mentioned above. From here, you can customize the order of news that is delivered to you. From breaking news to entertainment and from sports to the weather, you can choose to change the order of news that you prefer the most or what matters the most.
Currently, Google is focused on making their services and tools available through smartphones’ browsers instead of making these services available through standalone applications. This means that the search engine giant offers a more universal method of delivering its services. Devices across both platforms can now enjoy these tools without having to download separate applications.
Google is one of the most preferred sources of news and information. It allows you to setup and view RSS feeds from any source, add more sections, and edit pages. This will allow you to always stay up to date with the news or feeds that matter the most to you. If you are not sure on the news that you want displayed, you can always rely on the feature’s recommendations. You can even choose to email stories that you feel friends and family might find interesting.
With these options available to users, it is no surprise why Google is the most popular search engine in the world.
