Good news for owners of HTC Sensation in Europe! The Gingerbread 2.3.4 is now starting to hit Europe via and OTA (over the air) update. According to Eurodroid, the updated version of Gingerbread has now rolled out to Sensation owners across Germany.
This update to Gingerbread is said to be 41 MB large. Aside from updating the super smartphone’s operating system, it will also upgrade the phone’s firmware to 1.45.401.2.
Having the latest version of Gingerbread (Android’s smartphone-optimized OS) on the HTC Sensation is great news for the flagship’s owners. Aside from rolling out to the land of beer and sausages, it has also reportedly rolled out to a few more countries across Europe. These countries are Italy, Croatia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Serbia, and Belgium. Sadly, there are yet to be reports of the update rolling out to the UK.
Since Gingerbread 2.3.4 is rolling out across various countries in Europe, we’re pretty sure the update will be rolling out to the UK anytime soon. Although we’re not exactly sure when this will be, we’re sure it will be soon.
So, if you’re one of the many HTC Sensation owners in the UK, keep your eyes peeled on your smartphone. Sooner or later, you might receive an update notification.

Announced on Sony Ericsson’s official blog, the Android Gingerbread update is now starting to roll out to their legacy handset the XPERIA X10.
Unlocked X10s will be the first to get the update next week. It will available by downloading the update to your PC. Software bundled with the smartphone will allow you to install the update to the X10. This is what we thought.
Apparently, someone at Sony Ericsson made a mistake. The update is, unfortunately, still unavailable for the X10.
Head of Product PR for SE, Mattias Holm, wrote, “As some of you have seen we have communicated on www.sonyericsson.com that the Gingerbread software update for XPERIA X10 is available. Unfortunately that information was a bit too premature. The launch is imminent and timing according to plan but we just need some more days before we can push the button.”
Okay. So they need more time. It’s better than not getting the update at all. However, there is bad news. There will be a few XPERIA X10s on specific network operators that will not be getting the update. Sony Ericsson is yet to announce who gets the update and who does not.
Although you might have been disappointed by news, all you have to do is wait for just a few more days for the Gingerbread update to roll out. After all, it was previously announced that the Éclair version Android would be the last iteration of Android to roll out to the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10.

Finally! The much-awaited Gingerbread update will be rolling out to the award-winning HTC Desire by the end of July.
The update’s ETA was announced by HTC UK on Facebook. It said, “Hi everyone. As some of you have seen already, we have more news about our build of Gingerbread for Desire.”
“Our testing has gone well so we will begin rolling out the update by the end of July. Thank you again for your support.”
Although great news for Desire users, you might have to wait a bit longer if you’re tied down to a contract. As we all know, updates rolled out from phone manufacturers are subject to testing by network operators.
Aside from the additional testing time, we are still unsure how the handset will handle the Gingerbread update. If your patience is running low, you can opt to make use of unofficial ROMs. However, be sure you know the consequences of doing so.
Regardless, getting Gingerbread on the HTC Desire is well worth the wait. After all, it has been a rollercoaster ride for the smartphone’s users. After being promised to get the update, then getting news that it was no longer rolling out, then getting news that it’s finally rolling out this July, they deserve getting the latest OS Google’s Android has to offer.
