Samsung sends disguised prototypes of the Galaxy S3 to networks for testing
According to a new report, the Korean tech giant Samsung may have sent units of the hotly anticipated Galaxy S3 disguised as something else to networks for testing. The prototypes have been sent in fake cases to keep their future flagship from onlookers eager to get their first glimpse of the superphone ahead of launch.
The new comes to us via ET News. If the report is true, this would mean that Samsung has taken a page out of Apple’s book, which involves disguising future devices as current models to prevent leaks.
As of February of this year, Samsung confirmed that it has sold 20 million units of the S2 since its release in April of 2011, making it the most popular Android smartphone in the market. According to recent reports, networks have pre-ordered the superphone amounting to ten million. If this is the case, this would mean that the S3 will be on its way to smashing the Galaxy S2’s sales record.
Specs-wise, the S3 is said to sport a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display, a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a quad-core processor under the hood. Although Samsung has been tight-lipped about their next flagship, it’s a dead cert the superphone will run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
