Apple rumored to unveil the iPhone 5 on the 4th of October

According to AllThingsD, Tim Cook will take center stage and officially unveil the iPhone 5 on the 4^th of October. In two weeks, we may finally get to see Apple’s much awaited 5^th generation iPhone.

If AllThingsD’s report is true, this is the first time a new Apple device will be announced without former CEO now Chairman Steve Jobs taking center stage. It is also possible Tim will be announcing their new entry-level smartphone the iPhone 4S (iPhone 4 Plus).

Once Apple officially announces the iPhone 5 and, possibly, the iPhone 4S, we can finally lay the conflicting rumors to rest. We’ll finally get to know if the future flagship will pack a dual-core processor under the hood, an 8 megapixel camera, and a much larger touchscreen.

It’s not all good news for the Apple iPhone 5, though. According to an anonymous Samsung executive, once the iOS-powered smartphone lands in South Korea, the Korean tech giant will be seeking an injunction to ban Apple’s handset in its home turf. This will further intensify the legal battle between the two industry giants.

Despite the impending legal onslaught, the Apple iPhone 5 still remains the most highly anticipated smartphone this year. Its rumored official announcement on the 4^th of October will surely create waves.

15th of October is the launch date of the iPhone 5 says Orange’s parent company France Telecom

Stéphane Richard, France Telecom (owner of Orange) CEO, spoke to French reporters and accidentally announced that the Apple iPhone 5 would be coming on the 15^th of October. If the slip of tongue is accurate, then expect the iOS 5-powered smartphone to arrive in the UK mid October.

Are there any legs to this rumor? Will the phone be arriving on the 15^th of October? Well, if think about it, it does make sense. If you remember, there were reports that the AppleCare support team was told by upper management to expect an onslaught of calls on the 10^th of October, since the iOS 5 was rolling out. This means that the iPhone 5 would soon follow. If we go back to the iPhone 4, the iOS 4 rolled out on the 21^st of June in 2010. Soon after, the 4^th generation iPhone was launched.

Currently, the rumors are conflicting. There were rumors that suggest a curved back and a larger display, possibly over 4 inches. However, rumors now suggest that the iPhone 5 would be a mirror image of the iPhone 4 when it came to the overall design.

Sprint memo suggests iPhone 5 coming before the 15th of October

According to a memo from the US network operator Sprint, the Apple iPhone 5 may be coming before the 15^th of October. Does this confirm rumors of an October release?

The memo reads, “Due to the possibility of a major phone launch in October, we are blacking out September 30th through October 15^th”. This simply means that all hands should be on deck on the given dates. The question is, what phone will be coming in October?

Are we jumping the gun in presuming that this is the launch of the iPhone 5? Well, according to Bloomberg, Sprint will be including the iPhone 5 on their “Simply Everything Plan” (unlimited calls, SMS, and data). Is all just a coincidence?

Why can‘t Sprint afford their staff going on vacation? Well, if the 5^th generation iPhone will be coming before the 15^th of October, expect customers to be on queue from the start until the end of the day. It doesn’t make sense to be understaffed whenever Apple launches a new product.
