The XPERIA Ray – Another Compact Smartphone from Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson is known for creating cutting edge compact Android smartphones. It has done this with the XPERIA X10 Mini and the X10 Mini Pro. In the near future, it will be releasing successors to these legacy handsets. It has also announced a new handset that continues the compact smartphone design with the XPERIA Ray.

The new smartphone sports a 3.3 inch LED-backlit touch screen on a 111 mm high, 53 mm wide, and 9.4 mm thick frame. Available colors are pink, gold, white, and black. This display is also powered by the Bravia Mobile engine. This is the same technology on Sony’s Bravia HDTVs.

Like all modern handsets, the Ray is powered by the Android OS Gingerbread. This will allow users to get the most up to date apps from the Android Market. Although the phone’s smaller display will make it a bit harder tom play games, the 480 x 854 pixels of resolution will ensure you enjoy everything in rich and vivid colors. Aside from the latest OS from Android, the smartphone packs a 1 GHz Scorpion processor Snapdragon chipset with an Adreno 205 GPU. This will provide the extra punch we all crave for.

The Ray also comes with a superior camera on Sony has to offer. It sports an 8.1 MP camera, which is the same camera on the XPERIA Arc. It also features Exmor R, which will allow you to enjoy high-quality captured images in the dark.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Ray is yet another example of the company’s focus on compact handheld mobile devices. It makes users enjoy all the advantages of Android software and SE ingenuity without the bulk. Although there was no release date specified, the smartphone is scheduled to hit stores sometime in the 4th quarter of this year.

Check Symptoms via the NHS Direct App on Android Smartphones

NHS Direct has provided 27-7 medical advice via their website. This allowed inquirers to check on their symptoms online and even call for assistance. Now, the health service can now be accessed through an app for Android smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S2, the HTC Sensation, the Motorola Atrix, and the LG Optimus 2X.

If you are experiencing a number of symptoms and are unsure on what disease you might have, the app allows you to find out the possible causes through a number of questions. After going through the series of questions, you will be instructed to administer first aid, take a trip to a clinic, or visit a general practitioner.

If you wish speak to a representative, all you need to do is tap the “Contact” button found on the app. This will quickly dial NHS Direct’s hotline on your Android smartphone. Furthermore, medical advice provided by the app can be saved on the app’s “Guides” section.

The associate director of multichannel NHS Direct, Roger Donald, said:

“The NHS Direct app has been developed in response to the popularity of this new mobile channel and to the specific needs of the growing number of patients who prefer to access health advice online…

Our online health and symptom checkers are already extremely popular and we hope making them mobile we will benefit more people and contribute to helping take pressure off other local NHS services.”

The app is designed to provide helpful information displayed in fast-loading pages. It is one of the most ideal ways to get medical information from a trusted source. Best of all, all you have to do to get this information is to get your Android smartphone out of your pocket.

The app is undergoing approval on the Apple App Store and will be available to iOS smartphones such as the iPhone 4 soon. It is possible for the app to be available across platforms such as the Windows Phone 7 OS and the Blackberry OS 6 in the future.
