Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility receives praise from major Android manufacturers
Android’s biggest supporters have praised the latest $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola by Google. These major smartphone manufacturers all agree that the purchase will strengthen Android against its rival’s attacks.
By purchasing Motorola Mobility, Google does not only take advantage of the US-based company’s phone-making talent; it can also take advantage of the company’s vast patent portfolio containing 14,600 patents with 6,700 more patents pending approval. This will give Google’s Android the upper hand against Apple and Microsoft’s legal attack dogs. This comes after denouncing both companies’ patent-buying tactics as a “hostile, organized campaign against android”.
This strategic move by Google could put an end to its rival’s legal bullying tactics. Many of its supporters agree that this move is a wise move by the search giant.
Here’s what major Android manufacturers have to say about the acquisition:
Samsung Mobile CEO, JK Shin, said, “We welcome today’s news, which demonstrates Google’s deep commitment to defending Android, its partners, and the ecosystem.
HTC CEO, Peter Chou, said, “We welcome the news of today’s acquisition, which demonstrates that Google is deeply committed to defending Android, its partners, and the entire ecosystem.”
LG CEO and President, Jong-Seok Park, said, “We welcome Google’s commitment to defending Android and its partners.”
Sony Ericsson CEO and President, Bert Nordberg, said, “I welcome Google’s commitment to defending Android and its partners.”
All of these statements from Android major players can be found on the search giant’s press site.
