Leaked photos of Nokia Lumia EOS show massive hole for camera

Leaked photos of the Nokia Lumia EOS have surfaced on the internet, showing a massive hole on the back casing for the camera. This suggests that it will sport a camera like the 41-megapixel camera on the PureView 808.WPDang_EOS-3

An anonymous tipster sent the photos to WPDang, a Chinese site. The photos posted on the site show the EOS looking a lot like other Lumia devices. The only difference is the massive hole for the camera. It is even shown side by side with Nokia Lumia 920. This gives you an idea on the difference between the two. One photo shows a shot of the side of the rumoured handset, showing a large protrusion on the back casing. This suggests that the handset will sport a similar camera to the PureView 808.

Of course, since Nokia is yet to reveal anything official about the Lumia EOS, there’s no way of knowing if these photos are the real deal or not. So take this with a pinch of salt.

Nokia promised to lift the lid on a new device this summer. We’re hoping that this will be the unveiling of the Lumia EOS.

Nokia EOS – possibly the first Windows Phone to sport quad-core processor

According to a report, the rumoured Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia EOS will sport a whopping 41-megpaixel camera. The report also says the handset may sport a quad-core processor.nokia-808-pureview

The report comes to us via The Nokia Blog. The site reports, “According to our source Nokia are currently working/testing on two different models of the EOS, which have the same specs but a different processor a: Dual Core version , and a Quad core running the latest Snapdragon 800; the main issue appears to be the poor battery performance of the quad core variant which might ultimately lead to releasing a dual core variant. This does ring true, seeing how the Lumia 720′s product managers themselves have told us that they tested out a 1ghz, and 512mb versions of the phone; so it doesn’t seem too far-fetched to hear of a Dual/Quad core version of the same phone being tests, especially with the latest rumor of GDR3 brinign Quad core support.”

Speaking about other rumoured specs, the site says, “The EOS is said to have a similar battery to that of the 920 (2000 mAh), alongside a similar screen resolution; with the exception of it being an Amoled screen; which is once again strengthened by the recent leak of the 928′s Amoled screen; and the low power sleeping screen support in future updates. In regards to actual camera performance the EOS should pack a similar camera sensor to its predecessor, with a  41MP sensor, Xenon & LED flash, OIS and possibly a Variable Aperture lens (like the N86) also mentioned is a more detailed camera UI similar to that of on the 808.”

Future Nokia Lumia handsets confirmed to sport PureView cameras

Future Nokia Lumia handsets will sport the 41-megapixel camera on the 808 PureView.

Speaking to HowardForums, Chris Webb, Nokia US president, said, “You can expect we’ll be bringing PureView technologies to the Windows Phone platform and Lumia devices.

“We’re absolutely committed to doing that.”

The 808 PureView’s powerful camera technology will be coming to future Nokia Windows Phone handsets. Sadly, Webb failed to mention when the Finnish firm would be launching these phones. For now, make do with a 5-megapixel camera on the Lumia 710 and 610 or an 8-megapixel camera on the Lumia 800 and 900.

Webb adds, “At the same time we’re working with Microsoft to make sure their platform supports the broad set of things we want to do with the PureView imaging.”

We might get to see a glimpse of these PureView camera-sporting Lumia handsets on the 20th of June at Microsoft’s Windows Phone Summit. The software giant promises “a sneak peek of the future of Windows Phones”.
