Three rolls out Jelly Bean for Sony XPERIA T

On Twitter, Three announced that the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) bean update is now available for the Sony XPERIA T. It tweets, “News for Sony Xperia T owners on Three, Jellybean is being rolled out.”tft

Sadly, the update will not be available via an OTA (over-the-air) update. Owners will have to download and install the update via the Sony PC Companion software, by plugging their phones into their PCs.

Three provides instructions on its website. It says, “From time to time Sony may release new software for your phone. By updating your phone to the latest software version, you’ll improve your experience.

“Before you can update your phone, make sure your battery is fully charged. You should also make sure that you have backed up your personal data, like contacts, that are stored on your phone.

“Software updates need to be approved by mobile networks before your phone will allow you to update your software. If you’re using a phone that you didn’t get from us, an update may not be available at the same time as it would be for a phone that came from Three.

“To update your software, you’ll need the latest version of Sony PC Companion software. You can get this from Sony’s website.

“Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable and open Sony PC Companion.

“When the Sony PC Companion recognises your phone, it should automatically check for an update. If it doesn’t, click Start on Support Zone.

“Click Start on the Phone Software Update screen.

“If an update is available, click Update now and follow the onscreen instructions.

“The software on your phone will now have been updated.”
