Jelly Bean rolling out to HTC One X and One S before Christmas

If you own either an HTC One X or an HTC One S, we have good news for you. Speaking to CNET UK, the Taiwanese phone maker confirmed that the two smartphones would be updated to the latest version of Android before Christmas.

According to HTC, both of the Taiwanese firm’s high-end Android smartphones will be getting the update somewhere between the middle of October to December. Although they did not mention the exact date of the rollout, at least we know when to expect the update.

Another HTC handset that will be receiving the update at around the same time will be the One XL (the 4G version of the One X).

Samsung, however, was first to roll out Jelly Bean to its flagship the Samsung Galaxy S3, ahead of HTC. Samsung confirmed the latest version of Android was rolling out in Europe, with Poland getting the update before everyone else.

Although Jelly Bean is rolling out to most of the phones in HTC’s One series, there’s still no mention of the update rolling out to the One V. Don’t be surprised, however, if it’s not available to the handset, since it was at times sluggish with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). This means that its hardware might not be able to handle Jelly Bean.

HTC isn’t known for rolling out updates on time. In July, it cancelled the Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for the Desire HD. So we won’t be surprised if the Jelly Bean rollout for the One X and the One S does not push through as planned.

Can’t wait to get the latest version of Android running on your HTC One X or One S, or do you doubt HTC will live up to its word? Let us know through a comment on our Facebook page.
