Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S3’s 8.6mm profile, the iPhone 4S is bulkier at 9.3mm. According to the Chinese newspaper Apple Daily, this is all about to change. The report claims the iPhone 5 will be a mere 7.6mm slim. If true, this would make the new iPhone one of the slimmest smartphones in the market.
The report mentions nothing on how the Cupertino firm plans to make the iPhone 5 slimmer, but there is evidence pointing to a slimmer design.
Aside from having a wider 16:9 4-inch display, the next iPhone is rumoured to sport a smaller dock connector to accommodate the thinner frame. However, since Apple has neither confirmed nor denied these reports, we’ll just have to wait until September when Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 5 to see if the rumours were accurate or not.
