Alcatel and ZTE manufacture Android handsets such as the Alcatel 990 and ZTE Racer. In 2013, the two manufacturers have confirmed that they will be making phones running Mozilla’s new Firefox OS.
Neither Mozilla nor the two manufacturers have shown what the devices will look like or if they will be landing in the UK. All that was disclosed was that the devices will be first seen in Brazil next year. Furthermore, the devices will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.
Telefónica (owner of O2) is also on board with Mozilla. Matthew Key, Telefónica Digital CEO, said, “Firefox OS will bring a better smart phone experience to a higher proportion of the population at a lower cost.”
