Adobe Flash Player will not support Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

It looks like we will no longer see Flash running on the latest version of Android (Jelly Bean). Adobe confirmed that it will no longer support Flash Player on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It will also be blocking the installation of the player starting on the 15th of August.

Adobe said on its blog, “We have not continued developing and testing Flash player for this new version of Android and its available browser options.”

This means that if you don’t install the app before the 15th of August, you will never see the app again.

Furthermore, if devices running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) get updated to Jelly Bean, Flash Player “may exhibit unpredictable behaviour, as it is not certified for use with Android 4.1”. It is Adobe’s recommendation that you uninstall Flash before updating to Jelly Bean.

The Google Nexus S, Motorola Xoom, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be the first devices to be updated to Jelly Bean in the middle of July. If you own one of these devices, say goodbye to Flash.
