According to a rumour, the Google Nexus 7, a 7-inch tablet first to run Jelly Bean, will not sport a rear-facing camera or 3G connectivity.
Why no 3G and camera? It seems Google and ASUS will be keeping manufacturing costs down to a minimum. The 7-inch tablet is said to be priced at a mere $200 (around £125). Users can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi.
According to Digitimes, component suppliers for the tablet say that it will not sport a primary camera. It will, however, sport a front-facing camera for video calls.
Okay. So the Google Nexus 7 will be cheap, but will this be enough to compete with other Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the highly popular Amazon Kindle Fire? Will this be enough to rival the dominant force in the tablet market the iPad? This remains to be seen.
The Google Nexus 7 is expected to make an appearance at Google I/O on the 27th of June in San Francisco.
