Future Nokia Lumia handsets confirmed to sport PureView cameras

Future Nokia Lumia handsets will sport the 41-megapixel camera on the 808 PureView.

Speaking to HowardForums, Chris Webb, Nokia US president, said, “You can expect we’ll be bringing PureView technologies to the Windows Phone platform and Lumia devices.

“We’re absolutely committed to doing that.”

The 808 PureView’s powerful camera technology will be coming to future Nokia Windows Phone handsets. Sadly, Webb failed to mention when the Finnish firm would be launching these phones. For now, make do with a 5-megapixel camera on the Lumia 710 and 610 or an 8-megapixel camera on the Lumia 800 and 900.

Webb adds, “At the same time we’re working with Microsoft to make sure their platform supports the broad set of things we want to do with the PureView imaging.”

We might get to see a glimpse of these PureView camera-sporting Lumia handsets on the 20th of June at Microsoft’s Windows Phone Summit. The software giant promises “a sneak peek of the future of Windows Phones”.
