Apple ordered to pay $2.2 million fine for misleading new iPad ads

An Australian Federal court has ordered Apple to pay a fine amounting to $2.2 million for misleading customers with its new iPad ads. Apple led the Australian consumer to believe that their latest slate was compatible with Australia’s network when it is not.

According to the Australian, the country’s national newspaper, the Cupertino firm has agreed to settle. The complaint was filed by the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) after discovering that the 4G version of the new iPad could not connect to Australia’s 4G network.

Cases of the same nature are pending in Sweden and the UK. In response to the same complaints in the UK, Apple has rebranded the 4G version of their tablet into the iPad Cellular.
