Google has finally fully acquired Motorola. Its first move as the new owner of the Android manufacturer was to appoint its own man as head honcho. Dennis Woodside now sits as the head of Moto, with Sanjay Jha, previous Motorola CEO, stepping down.
It is said that Google main reason for buying Motorola is its massive patent portfolio, which gives the search giant the upper hand against rivals who are suing Android manufacturers left and right such as Apple. Another reason is hardware.
Motorola has long manufactured devices running Android. Examples of these devices are the Xoom and RAZR. Sadly, these devices failed to make an impact on the market. Hopefully, this is all about to change with Motorola taken under Google’s wing.
Do you think Motorola has a better chance against its rivals with its new owner Google? Give us your thoughts.
