Ice Cream Sandwich not rolling out to LG Optimus 2X until Q3 2012

We are all aware of the painfully long time it took for Android manufacturers to roll out Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) to its devices. ICS was first seen in action running on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus back in November of 2011. However, it’s only recently ICS has begun rolling out to devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S2. If you own an LG Optimus 2X, you’re going to have to wait longer.

According to Phandroid, on Facebook, LG Mobile Singapore confirmed that Ice Cream Sandwich will be rolled out to the 2X in Q3 2012. This was after a customer inquired when the updated would be released. This is despite a previous announcement by LG, saying that the ICS update would be rolling out in Q2 2012. Unfortunately, LG did not mention the reason for the delay.

The Optimus 2X is more than capable of handling the system requirements of Ice Cream Sandwich. After all, it has been included in Guinness Book of World Records as the first smartphone to sport a dual-core processor. If there’s any handset that deserves receiving the update before anyone else, it’s the 2X.

Do you own an LG Optimus 2X? Are you bummed Ice Cream Sandwich will not be rolling out to your smartphone until the third quarter of this year? Express your frustration through a comment.
