Galaxy S3 confirmed by Samsung’s VP in earnings call

Samsung’s invitation for its event in London on the 3rd of May reads, “Come and meet the next Galaxy.” It’s a dead cert that the Korean tech giant was referring to the Galaxy S3, but hasn’t officially confirmed their next flagship’s moniker. The Samsung Unpacked 2012 app mentions the superphone in its description, but still no official confirmation. Furthermore, there were supposed leaks of the phone’s user manual as well as the company’s Kies software mentioning two version of the S2’s successor. Now, Samsung’s own VP confirmed the name of the superphone at the company’s earnings call for the first quarter of the year.

The Verge reports that Robert Yi, senior vice president at Samsung, referred to the “next Galaxy” as the hotly anticipated Galaxy S3. Of course, this didn’t really surprise anyone, but it does add more strength to speculations on what Samsung’s next flagship will be called.

When Yi was asked about his company’s expectations on the S3’s launch, he said, “We are anticipating very strong demand for Galaxy S3.”

Yi said earlier during the meeting that the S3 would be Korean firm’s “most successful smartphone ever”. We don’t doubt this statement since Samsung has announced its most profitable quarter, breaking previous records. It owes its success to handsets such as the highly popular Galaxy S2 and the hybrid Galaxy Note.

Do you think the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be the company’s “most successful smartphone ever”? Give us your thoughts.
