According to a new study from SEO (search engine optimisation) specialist Greenlight, the search term “Blackberry” exceeded the search term “iPhone 4S” in the UK during the month of February this 2012.
In February, there were a total of 13 million searches made for consumer electronics products in the UK. Out of the 13 million searches, the search term on top of everyone else was the Amazon Kindle. In second place was the search term “Blackberry”. In third place was the search term “iPhone 4S”. Device shoppers in the UK searched for the term “Kindle” totaling to 823,000 searches. “Blackberry” received a total of 673,000 queries.
According to the study, in the consumer electronics products category, queries related to phones and mobile phone accessories accounted for 26% of queries, making these search terms popular. Among the phones regularly searched for is the “iPhone 5”, despite not being officially released by Apple. The term was searched a total of 450,000 times.
Although RIM (Research In Motion) is experiencing catastrophic losses, Greenlight’s study shows that the UK consumer is still very much attracted to the Blackberry brand. Phones such as Blackberry Curve 9360 is still popular among the youth, since these handsets are inexpensive and allow users to enjoy more from unlimited messaging with the BBM (Blackberry Messenger).
