There are countless rumours surrounding the successor of the iPhone 4S. Now, a new rumour suggests that Apple could use glass to construct the highly anticipated iPhone 5.
The majority of reports claim that the next generation iPhone will be constructed out of aluminum. However, iLounge begs to differ. According to its sources, the Cupertino firm is in the process of experimenting on various materials that can be used on their next iPhone’s rear casings. Two of these materials are said to be ceramics and glass.
iLounge also says that the iPhone 5 will be slimmer in comparison to past models such as the iPhone 4 and the current iPhone 4S. This is thanks to the use of Gorilla Glass 2 display by Corning.
The source adds that Apple is considering a larger display on the iPhone 5. It also says that the usual 30-pin Dock Connector on iPhones may possibly be phased out soon. If true, we’re hoping makes use micro-USBs instead.
The iPhone 5 is expected to land sometime in September.
