There have been many rumors flying around about the iPad 2’s successor, the iPad 3. We’ve heard that Apple may launch their next generation iPad in March, a year after the second generation iPad was launched. Now, there are new reports suggesting the third generation iPad may be released as early as February.
This report comes to us via the Japanese website Macotakara. The site’s sources come from the US and Asian suppliers. Their sources claim that Apple is planning to “hold Special Event in early February.” They claim that this event will be the official unveiling of the iPad 3. It will be released early in March.
The sources add that software will be taking center stage, alongside the iPad 3. They claim that Apple will also roll out iOS 5.1 in March.
Other rumors surrounding the iPad 3 is a quad-core processor, 4G internet speeds, and the much awaited retina display. This will allow the iPad to further increase its dominance over Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Although an interesting prospect, take this information with a pinch of salt. Apple is yet to confirm these reports, and we all know how tight-lipped the Cupertino firm tends to be. We’ll just have to wait until February to confirm if there’s any truth to these rumors.
