Nokia Public Transport app coming to Lumia 800

Missing the bus is a reality commuters have to face in the UK. There is no way of accurately predicting when a bus will arrive at a stop. We’re sure you’ve experienced missing a bus at one point or another. The Nokia Public Transport app plans to change this.

The app was featured at last week’s Nokia World 2011. The Public transport app will be rolling out to Windows Phone Mango handsets such as the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 as well as other Nokia handsets.

The app makes use of GPS and data from networks to zero in on your current location and assist you in planning your journey using public transportation such as buses, trains, tubes, and more. Not only does the app work in your own city; it also works in cities you have never been to.

Cities in the UK included in this public transport service include Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester, London, Leeds, Liverpool, Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham, and Bath. The Nokia Public Transport app offers information such as timetables of available public transportation in these given cities. To use the Nokia Public Transport app, all you have to do is type in your destination and the app suggests a number of routes you can take.

The Nokia Public Transport app will be coming to the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Lumia 710 as well as Symbian handsets such as the E6 and X7.
