Law of supply and demand brings HP TouchPad back to regular price

Were you surprised to see the webOS-powered HP TouchPad sell like hotcakes? Since the discontinued slate is showing a lot of promise, Hewlett Packard decided to apply Economics 101’s law of supply and demand. They have now bumped the price back up to its original price of £399 for the 16 GB version.

Since HP decided to give its acquired webOS the boot, there were many who thought that their devices would fail to make an impact on the market. However, when the price was cut down from £399 to a mere £99, everyone wanted to get their hands on one.

According to HP, “A decision, wholly outside of our control, has been made which meant that this expectation will not now be met. This decision means that we can no longer obtain any inventory of these products.

“Therefore, regretfully, we have no alternative but to cancel your order for these products and to process a full and complete refund of your money.”

So there you have it. If you were lucky to get an HP TouchPad on a bargain, hats off to you. If you were lucky enough to get the mistakenly-shipped Android-powered version, then luck is truly on your side. Those things have been auctioned for thousands of dollars on eBay.

Unfortunately, the fun has come to an end. There may not be any stocks left, which signals the end of an innovative product.
