According to an unlikely source, the 3rd generation iPad will be outfitted with a 3D display. This report came not from tech analysts or an inside mobile scoop, but from an anonymous source from the entertainment industry in Hollywood.
This new information was reported by RCR Wireless, a news and information source on wireless communication. The anonymous source added that the iPad 3 would allow multiple users to view 3D images without having the need to put on 3D glasses.
It seems unlikely that a source in the entertainment industry would have any inside information about the rumor-stricken 3rd generation tablet by Apple. However, there is another angle that may make the source reliable. The source disclosed that studios are working double time to provide three-dimensional content that will coincide with the release of the tablet. If this is true, will the tablet be announced anytime soon?
Although there is no official word from Apple, there are other sources that support the possibility of a 3D display on the tablet. There have been patent applications filed that describes a different approach to 3D viewing with the use of both software and hardware.
There are other rumors flying around that suggests there will be another Apple tablet on its way that will be more ideal for reading eBooks. It is said to come with a smaller 6 inch display and a slimmer body. It will also include e-ink technology that validates its functionality as an eBook reader. Is this Steve Job’s answer to Amazon’s Kindle tablet?
The rumors seem to pour in nonstop. There are other rumors that suggest Steve Job’s plan on releasing the 3rd generation tablet sometime this 2011. This is in response to the growing popularity of Android Honeycomb tablets such as the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 as well as the two up and coming tablets by Sony.
